Originally dating from 1199, this historic castle in Bernstein in Central Burgenland is the birthplace of Ladislaus Almásy, whose life was featured in the movie "The English Patient", which won 9 oscars. His descendants still run the hotel today. Each of the spacious rooms at Burg Bernstein is decorated with original furnishings and has a tiled stove, wooden floors, a seating area, and a private bathroom. Traditional Austrian cuisine and Burgenland specialities are served in the Renaissance-style Great Hall dating from 1580, which is entirely illuminated by candlelight. Guests can visit the historic garden, the chapel, and the Knights’ Hall. An outdoor pool is available, and free WiFi is provided in public areas. Free private parking is also available at Burg Bernstein.

Please note that there is no reception. Guests arriving after 18:00 cannot be accommodated. Please note that, in order to preserve the authenticity of the historic building, the property has no TV, room telephone, or refrigerator.
